What is Allocation of Parental Responsibilities Action?

An action which deals primarily with parental responsibilities of a minor child. These actions may be filed by parties who were never married and who have minor children together. Other non-parents may sometimes file these types of actions depending on the particular circumstances. An allocation of parental responsibilities action generally addresses child support, parenting time, decision-making, and attorney’s fees. These actions are filed in the county’s District Court and are normally handled by the same judicial officers assigned to the dissolution of marriage actions.
