Divorce Matters on Channel 7’s Mile High Living 7.23.19

Transcript:

Good morning, glad you’re with us on Mile-High Living. I’m Gina Bellick, and be sure to stay with us over the next half hour for a chance to win four tickets to the Arapahoe County Fair. As summer begins to wind down and family vacations come to a close, the reality of family issues can sometimes begin to settle in. Unfortunately, this doesn’t have to become a stress-inducing reality. With us today from Divorce Matters is Kathlin Laraway, shareholder and Super Lawyers Rising Star, along with David Kalos, Senior Attorney and Colorado Top 40 Under 40 attorney. They both join us to discuss what to expect when you choose Divorce Matters to help with your legal matters.

David, let’s start with you. What can people expect when they come to Divorce Matters? How are you different, and how do you help folks?

We think one of the things that sets Divorce Matters apart from other firms is the extensive experience our firm has, particularly in family law and divorce cases. We have numerous attorneys at our firm who specialize in family law and divorce, and as a result, we’ve seen probably thousands of divorces and other family law cases. So when someone comes to Divorce Matters, they can be confident that, although every case is unique, we’ve likely seen circumstances like theirs before—probably multiple times. This allows us to be both very effective in our representation and keep costs down. We think our experience really sets us apart.

Experience is definitely something people need and desire when they’re going through something as difficult as divorce. Kathlin, you have videos on your website where past clients share their real experiences. Why is this so beneficial for potential clients?

We want our potential clients to see what our past clients have to say. One thing we really pride ourselves on is our ability to be empathetic. As David mentioned, we’ve seen almost every situation you can imagine in family law, but we understand that each person’s situation is unique. We try to make sure that you’re matched with the right attorney. Our intake team specializes in understanding the strengths of our attorneys and matching clients with the best fit for their case. We’ve had past clients come in on Saturdays to share their perspectives on our representation, and their feedback has been wonderful.

That really says a lot, considering how stressful this process can be for families and individuals. To hear positive feedback from real clients shows how well you handle the process. David, you also have an app—Divorce Matters, which is so modern. Can you tell us about it?

Yes, the Divorce Matters app is a free app available on our website, as well as in the Google Play and Apple stores. The app allows people to calculate child support and spousal maintenance (which is called alimony in Colorado) right from their phone. These calculations are based on a formula that the state of Colorado has developed, and users can input their specific information to get a general idea of what they might be looking at in terms of child support or maintenance.

It’s great that it answers some of those questions before people even need to talk to someone. Thanks so much for being here, guys.
