Hi, this is Doug Thomas with Divorce Matters. Today, we’re discussing child family investigators, often known as CFIs. A CFI is appointed by the court, and the duties of the CFI are determined by the court making that appointment.
Generally, a CFI does three things: they investigate, report, and make recommendations concerning the best interest of the child. They often advise and testify in court, specifically concerning what they believe is in the best interest of the child regarding parenting time and decision-making.
That is the basics of what a CFI does. Again, Doug Thomas with Divorce Matters. Thank you.
