Hi, Doug Thomas with Divorce Matters. Today we’re discussing child support and child custody for parents who are not married. Colorado Courts have an action known as an Allocation of Parental Rights or an APR Action. An APR Action determines the parents relative decision making authority, custody or parenting time, and child support. You do not have to be married in Colorado to pay child support or receive child support. You do not have to be married in Colorado to have your parenting time and decision making determined by a court. These actions are relatively common and again they’re called Allocation of Parental Rights or APR actions, thank you.
