U.S. Supreme Court: Lawyers Won’t Be Provided for Incarcerated Parents

A sharply-divided U.S. Supreme Court will not require states to provide lawyers for parents facing incarceration in civil child-support cases.  The recent ruling does, however, order state officials to ensure the hearings are “fundamentally fair” for the parent dealing with possible jail time.
