There’s nothing wrong with partying it up from time to time, but one celebrity has lost her patience ”“ Hillary Duff, the actress and musician made famous through her role as Disney’s Lizzie McGuire, has filed for divorce from her estranged husband of three years, former hockey centre Mike Comrie.
The divorce filing comes soon after Duff, in an interview with a health magazine, teased a possible rekindling of the romance. The couple had been seen together in public recently and even went on vacation together with their child despite their separation. However, Duff has said enough is enough ”“ she is sick of Comrie’s party boy antics and flirtatious outings.
In the filing, Duff cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce. Do you wonder why almost every celebrity divorce cites this as the reason for the split? It is because irreconcilable differences is the no-fault grounds for divorce. Many states, ours included, are strictly no-fault divorce states, where neither party has to prove fault on the part of the other spouse.
What Are Irreconcilable Differences?
Irreconcilable differences are any difference between the married parties that either cannot or will not be changed. Some states use other terms for it ”“ irremediate breakdown, irretrievable breakdown and incompatibility, for example ”“ but the concept remains largely homogenous. Comrie’s recent Beverly Hills outing, wherein he supposedly propositioned bar patrons and staff, was reportedly the straw that broke the camel’s back.
It is clear that Comrie’s behavior is a worry for Duff, who filed for primary physical custody of toddler son Luca.
