Meet Colorado Attorney Evan Ray Furr
Evan Ray Furr
Attorney
Evan Furr is an Associate Attorney at Divorce Matters who brings a unique combination of insight into human behavior, strategic thinking, and extensive courtroom experience to his family law practice. With a background in psychology and experience as a former Deputy District Attorney, Evan understands that family law matters are not only legally complex—they are deeply personal and often emotionally challenging.
Evan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Colorado, where he developed a strong foundation in understanding human behavior, interpersonal relationships, and conflict. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Liberty University School of Law and began his legal career as a Deputy District Attorney for Colorado’s 4th Judicial District.
During his time as a prosecutor, Evan managed and successfully prosecuted complex felony-level cases in district court. This experience allowed him to develop extensive courtroom skills, including trial preparation, evidentiary analysis, witness examination, and navigating high-stakes litigation.
Evan ultimately transitioned into civil domestic litigation, where he could apply those skills to helping individuals and families through some of the most significant transitions of their lives.
His Approach to Family Law
Evan believes effective family law representation requires both empathy and strong advocacy. He understands that clients are often facing uncertainty, conflict, and major decisions that can affect their families for years to come.
His approach is level-headed, strategic, and straightforward. Evan prioritizes clear communication and objective legal advice, so his clients understand where they stand, what options are available, and what to expect as their case moves forward.
When matters can be resolved through negotiation, Evan works toward practical solutions that protect his clients’ interests. When litigation becomes necessary, his background as a prosecutor allows him to confidently advocate for his clients in the courtroom.
Areas of Practice
Evan focuses his practice on complex and high-conflict family law matters, with particular experience in divorce, child custody and allocation of parental responsibilities, protective orders, and highly contested domestic relations cases. His background as a former prosecutor is especially valuable in cases involving domestic violence allegations, complicated evidentiary issues, and matters requiring extensive courtroom litigation.
With significant trial experience, Evan is skilled in preparing cases for contested hearings, analyzing evidence, examining witnesses, and developing effective litigation strategies. While he works toward practical resolutions whenever possible, he is prepared to advocate confidently in the courtroom when litigation is necessary.
Outside the Office
Evan values being connected to the Colorado community and looks forward to becoming increasingly involved with local organizations and community initiatives.
For Evan, practicing family law is about more than resolving a legal dispute. It is about helping clients understand their options, protecting what matters most to them, and providing steady guidance during an important chapter in their lives.
